Oaktree Capital Management is renowned for its expertise in alternative investments, especially distressed debt, managing $189 billion as of December 31, 2023. The firm stands out for its strategic investments and remarkable ability to generate high returns, notably achieving an average annual gain of 19% over 22 years without leveraging its distressed debt funds.
Before co-founding Oaktree in 1995, Marks amassed extensive experience in the finance sector, including notable roles at Citicorp and TCW Group. Marks also serves on the Shanghai International Financial Advisory Council. Known for his keen insights into investment strategies, risk management, and market cycles, Howard Marks has significantly contributed to Oaktree’s consistently high returns and strong performance in the investment management field.
